Senior Enterprise Fellow
Professor Alan Barrell is now established as one of a number of Senior Enterprise Fellows at the University of Essex Southend. These appointments, initiated by professor Jay Mitra, Founding Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the newly established School of Entrepreneurship and Business, are part of a unique new Campus, Programme and Incubator complex which is being developed in Southend.
This is the first Faculty of its kind in the UK and will work with the Faculty of Healthcare and other Faculties, developing entirely new Masters and PhD courses in Entrepreneurship in the private sector and Entrepreneurship in Community, Social and healthcare fields.

Visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship
Professor Barrell works as Visiting Professor, University of Xiamen ( China ) and has been appointed "Investment Attorney" - Municipality of Xiamen, Fujian Province, Peoples republic of China. He is Vice President of The Innovation Champions Network an organisation which embraces the Cluster Centres of Cambridge, Sophia Antipolis, Munich, Tel-Aviv, Montreal and New York. He is a frequent visitor to many European countries where he lectures and discusses "The Cambridge Phenomenon" - using it as a model for technology based economic development.
