Professor Barrell has worked in all continents and very many countries, starting, developing and growing technology based businesses. He has direct experience of setting up businesses and directing them in the UK, all European countries, North America, all South American countries, Japan, China, India - and all major other Asian nations.
He travels regularly to Europe, China, USA and elsewhere and has made a study of the cultural issues in different continents and countries which impact on businesses and business development.
Professor Barrell works as Visiting Professor, University of Xiamen ( China ) and has been appointed "Investment Attorney" - Municipality of Xiamen, Fujian Province, Peoples republic of China. He is Vice President of The Innovation Champions Network an organisation which embraces the Cluster Centres of Cambridge, Sophia Antipolis, Munich, Tel-Aviv, Montreal and New York. He is a frequent visitor to many European countries where he lectures and discusses "The Cambridge Phenomenon" - using it as a model for technology based economic development.
